The press releases are going out, the regional yard sale social media groups are buzzing, and shoppers from across the state and beyond are preparing to head our way. All we need now is you and your treasures.
It’s the ultimate win-win: clear out your clutter, connect with neighbors, and stack up some extra cash just in time for the holidays and the doldrums of winter.
Got questions about how it all works? Here is your quick-start guide to Trail Sale weekend!
The Quick Guide to Trail Sale Weekend
What is the Trail Sale? It’s a massive, multi-community yard sale stretching along NM Highway 4 through the Jemez Valley—from San Ysidro through La Cueva and beyond—plus our neighbors in Cuba NM will be joining us again this year!
When is it? Saturday & Sunday, October 17–18, 2026. Set your own hours! Sell all weekend, or just for a few hours on the day that works best for you. It’s typically chilly in the mornings that time of year so many sellers start late—after the sun comes up over the mesa.
Who can participate? Every resident, family, and group in the Jemez Mountains is invited to participate. Set up a sale on your own property, team up with neighbors, or host a fundraiser for your local school, church, or organization.
What can I sell? If it’s legal, it’s fair game! Over the years, folks have sold everything from tools, clothes, and artwork to firewood, fresh apples, baked goods, RVs, and vintage treasures.
Do I need a permit or license? Nope! No special event permits are required unless you are selling goods or food items that already mandate a standard State of New Mexico business or health permit.
Don’t live on Highway 4? No problem! If your driveway is off the beaten path or you live outside the main corridor, you don’t have to miss out. Many local businesses open their parking lots to sellers on Trail Sale weekend. We call these Cluster Locations. See the post pinned to the top of the Jemez Mountain Trail Sale Facebook page and JemezVillage.com/trail-sale for the current list of Cluster Locations. Additional locations will be added as they become available.
Meanwhile, start sorting through those closets, garages, and storage sheds. Let’s clean house, welcome our visitors, enjoy our beautiful fall and make The 23rd Annual Jemez Mountain Trail Sale our best year yet!
Visit the Official Trail Sale Page to see or add your items to the map. Select a cluster location when adding your items and visitors can browse or reserve items before during or after the Trail Sale.
