Learn About Fenton Lake State Park

Nestled in the high country of the Jemez Mountains, Fenton Lake State Park is a premier year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a serene escape at an elevation of nearly 7,900 feet. The park’s centerpiece is a 37-acre lake, famously stocked with rainbow and brown trout, making it a favorite spot for both shore and boat fishing (restricted to electric motors only to maintain the tranquility). Surrounded by dense ponderosa pine forests and striking canyon walls, the area offers more than just water activities; visitors can explore scenic hiking trails, enjoy well-maintained campsites, and observe local wildlife such as elk and deer. In the winter, the park transforms into a snowy wonderland perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, ensuring that its natural beauty is accessible and engaging regardless of the season.
